Wild Hornets reports Sting S shootdowns of jet-powered drones in combat testing

Companies: Wild Hornets

As of Published

What happened

The company says Sting S destroyed around a dozen Geran-4 drones and several Geran-5s in its first few days of combat testing. The high-speed multicopter, evolved from its current Sting interceptor, is being tested in selected units.

Why it matters

Geran-4 and Geran-5 drones fly at 500–600 km/h and 4–7 km altitude, making them harder for mobile ground teams and slower interceptor drones to reach. The results offer early evidence of an interceptor engaging this more demanding target set, although the system is not yet in serial production. Ukraine’s Brave1 defense-technology cluster told DOU that more than 20 teams are working on interceptors for jet-powered drones, and that at least six systems have confirmed combat shootdowns of Geran-5s.

What to watch

Whether successful combat testing is followed by mass production, which Wild Hornets expects could begin within a month.
