What happened
Ukrainian defense company Vyriy Industries says a Slavic reconnaissance-drone package costs UAH 1.35 million for five aircraft, or UAH 200,000 for one aircraft with a battery and case. The full package includes 10 batteries, a ground control station, charger, cables, spare parts, a mast, a rotating mechanism and an antenna module. Vyriy reports up to 1.5 hours of endurance and a tactical range of up to 30 km, and says the system has completed initial combat trials with seven Ukrainian defense units. The company is testing versions with thermal cameras for night reconnaissance, additional payload capacity and the ability to carry a relay.
Why it matters
The pricing gives Ukrainian military users a defined acquisition option. At about UAH 1.35 million, the five-drone package is approximately 12% more expensive than a Vyriy-estimated package based on DJI’s Matrice 4E, which the company prices at about UAH 1.2 million; Vyriy attributes the difference to the package contents and flight characteristics. Ukrainian production covers the Slavic body and frame, antennas, flight controller, motor controllers and navigation system. The company continues to use foreign components—including a U.S.-supplied controller, European microcomputers, and Chinese cameras, motors and propellers—to avoid delaying deliveries while Ukrainian substitutes are developed. The reported endurance, range and trials with seven defense units indicate the system’s intended operating profile and early user exposure.
