What happened
Shershen’s combat-control post, Esmeralda radar and Borey launcher engaged four small aerial targets, including Banshee Jet 80 drones, using R-27ET, AIM-9M, R-73L and R-27ER missiles. Its main components were codified in late 2024, enabling procurement by Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
Why it matters
The results support Shershen’s claimed ability to engage varied aerodynamic targets at ranges of up to 25 km and altitudes of up to 10 km. Codification creates a procurement pathway, while missile costs, limited stocks and constrained domestic missile production could limit high-volume scaling.
