EU confirms planned allocation of approximately €3 billion for Ukrainian drones and missiles

As of Published

What happened

The EU plans to provide the additional funding as early as the week after October 11, 2026, within its €90 billion Ukraine Support Loan for 2026–2027, of which €60 billion is designated for defense needs. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the allocation would be directed to drones and missiles to strengthen Ukraine’s defense and protect its airspace.

Why it matters

The commitment creates a substantial financing mechanism for Ukrainian drone and missile procurement or production, although no program-level breakdown of the allocation was disclosed. The broader Ukraine Support Loan also leaves €28.1 billion available through the end of 2026, including €15.4 billion designated for the defense industry
