What happened
ComBat Vision developers presented a new plugin for KomBat 4 that trains artillery personnel. On a map, the plugin can display ammunition flight paths and dispersion, simulate a shell’s flight using its characteristics and an added training error, show bursts, calculate an average correction from a series of hits, and warn of possible interference along the calculated trajectory. It uses the ballistics of MyGun, an artillery ballistic and fire-calculation application developed by Yaroslav Sherstyuk.
Why it matters
The plugin adds artillery instruction and fire-adjustment functions to a battlefield reconnaissance and coordination platform. ComBat Vision is designed to coordinate forces and exchange information on objects, integrating with optical sensors such as UAVs, unmanned ground vehicles and security cameras that determine object coordinates. Linking those functions with trajectory, dispersion, burst and correction calculations could support more integrated artillery training and coordination.
What to watch
Watch for access to the ComBat Vision plugin store, which developers said would become available in about a week and allow users to download the new function.
